General Classroom Information:
Homework:
Students can be assigned up to 60 minutes of homework each night. Students should expect to read thirty minutes each night as part of their homework. Reading at home is a vital part of your student's homework. Please ask them about what they are reading and help hold them accountable.
Completion of Work:
Students are expected to complete work to the best of their ability. Students are given time at the end of each day, during Team Time to work on assignments. Students who have missing or incomplete work will be given silent/working lunch. If the missing work is not completed and shown to me by the following day, students will also receive a fine (class cash not real cash) and their "fine" slip must be signed by a parent. If this happens frequently within the week it could result in missing Fun Friday at the end of the week.
Conferences:
I would be happy to schedule a conference with you at any point. All parents will be offered the option of a conference or email update at the end of the first quarter. I will not be able to speak with you in person, about concerns, unless we have a previously scheduled meeting.
Lockers:
Each student is assigned a locker space. This is their space. They are responsible for keeping this area organized and clean. As we utilize flexible seating options, students will not be assigned one desk for the duration of the school year. Therefore, students are responsible for items left in desks at the end of the day. Students should transfer any personal belongings to their locker at the end of each day to avoid lost of stolen items.
Snack/Water Bottle:
Students are advised to bring a snack and a water bottle each day. Five to ten minutes will be set aside each day specifically for snack.
Google Classroom:
I will introduce Google Classroom to the students and help them get set up, early on in the year. Students will be expected to communicate and submit various assignments through the use of Google Classroom. Resources will be posted on Google Classroom as well. I know Mr. Kellogg (your child's Math/Science teacher) utilizes Google Classroom consistently as well.
Classroom Volunteers/Chaperones:
Prior to volunteering in a classroom or being chosen as a field trip chaperone, you must be a cleared and registered WCPSS volunteer. Volunteer registration takes place in the media center.
